Classic point-to-point courses. The only course for beginners is an easyish yellow course.
Yellow (Basic/Intermediate) 2.8 km 90 m climb 10 controls
Orange (Advanced) 3.9 km 135m climb 11 controls
Brown (Short Expert) 3.7 km 120m climb 10 controls
Green (Expert) 5.7 km 195m climb 15 controls
Course Setter notes:
Mapped boulders can be quite small, some are only 30cm (knee high). Several of these are used as controls in otherwise feature-free areas of the terrain.
Additional Information
Jenks Lake Road West is under construction. You must approach on Jenks Lake Road East. Orienteering signs will be posted on Highway 38 to help you find the turn.
An adventure pass is required to park in the parking lot. These must be prepurchased. They are not available at the parking lot.
Acceptable passes include Daily Forest Adventure Pass, Annual Forest Adventure Pass, or any National Interagency Recreational Pass. You may order a Daily Forest Adventure Pass ($5) through LAOC when you register.
The following standard LAOC protocols will be in place at this event:
Please pre-register. $10 additional fee per person for on-site registration dependent on map availability.
Assigned start blocks. Registration form asks for your start time preference. Your preference is not guaranteed. The earlier you register, the more likely that you get your preferred start.
Bring your own water and snacks. No water will be placed on the course. We will have water available at the assembly area.
Please take advantage of our online pre-event beginner clinic information. If you need additional training or have questions, let us know when you arrive. On-site training will depend on volunteer availability.
Please do not attend if you are sick.
Registration and Pricing
Registration is now open and will close on Thursday, August 22 at midnight.
Standard LAOC fees:
Adult $13
Youth (20 and under) $10
Member discount $5
Children under 10 free (one free child per paying adult, additional children at the youth rate)
Additional $2 estick rental if you don't own your own
$10 per person additional for on-site late registration
Daily Forest Adventure Pass $5
Although this is not a COOL scoring event, we will begin accepting COOL registrations for the 2023-2024 season at this event. For more information about the COOL youth league see this page.
Prepayment is encouraged and is the only way to pay with a credit card. The online preregistration system uses Paypal as the payment portal. Only cash or checks are accepted at the event site.
Liability Waiver - Everyone must have a waiver on file. The registration system gives you an opportunity to accept the waiver for yourself or your family members. Minors whose registration is not handled by a parent/guardian must print out the form and bring it with them with a parent/guardian signature.
