Training Weekend from Friday through Sunday, November 17-19
Sunday - standard LAOC event open to the public. Starts 10:00am - Noon

Overview

Join us for a weekend of training and socializing or just come for the event on Sunday. Camp Scherman features a combination of developed camp, rocks, and manzanita scattered hillsides. The regular brush clearance by the camp keeps much of this fairly runnable.

Sunday will be a COOL scoring event and will have point-to-point courses.


Map:  1:7,500 scale  5m contours


White 1.6km, 30m climb, 9 controls

Yellow 2.7km, 105m climb, 8 controls

Orange 3.9km, 135m climb, 9 controls

Brown 2.8km, 80m climb, 8 controls

Green 4.2km, 180m climb, 13 controls

Red 6.7km, 265m climb, 19 controls


Additional Information

Throughout the weekend, you'll learn, have a whole lot of fun, get a ton of experience, and meet fun people.

Training weekend fee includes:

  • Two nights lodging in very nice cabins with bunk beds. Bring your own bedding or sleeping bag.

  • Five meals beginning with Saturday Breakfast and through Sunday Lunch

  • Training activities all day Saturday

  • Fun evening social activities

We will accommodate orienteers of all levels from Basic to Expert.


The following standard LAOC protocols will be in place at this event:

  • Please pre-register. $10 additional fee per person for Sunday on-site registration dependent on map availability.

  • Assigned start blocks. Registration form asks for your start time preference. Your preference is not guaranteed. The earlier you register, the more likely that you get your preferred start.

  • Bring your own water and snacks. No water will be placed on the course. We will have water available at the assembly area.

  • Please take advantage of our online pre-event beginner clinic information. If you need additional training or have questions, let us know when you arrive. On-site training on Sunday will depend on volunteer availability.

  • Please do not attend if you are sick.


Liability Waiver - Everyone must have a waiver on file. The registration system gives you an opportunity to accept the waiver for yourself or your family members. Minors whose registration is not handled by a parent/guardian must print out the form and bring it with them with a parent/guardian signature.

Preregistration is now closed. There is a $10 late fee to register on site.

  • Regular Registration (closes Friday, November 10)  $140 / person

  • Late Registration (closes Wednesday, Nov 15)       $165 / person

  • Member discount $5

  • estick rental $2 (unless you own your own)

  • 25% discount for members of the OUSA National Team or Youth Development Program

Sunday only - Standard LAOC fees:

  • Adult $13

  • Youth (20 and under) $10

  • Member discount $5

  • Children under 10 free (one free child per paying adult, additional children at the youth rate)

  • estick rental $2 (unless you own your own)

  • $10 per person additional for on-site late registration

Prepayment is encouraged and is the only way to pay with a credit card. The online preregistration system uses Paypal as the payment portal. Only cash or checks are accepted at the event site.
